Why 6 Minutes Can Change Everything

Do your mornings ever start before you do?

You open your eyes already behind, scrolling before breathing, thinking of what everyone else needs before you’ve even poured your coffee. The day rushes in before you’ve had a moment to arrive in it.

I used to live that way too—until I started giving myself six intentional minutes each morning.

What I learned in those six minutes changed everything—my energy, my confidence, and the way I show up for life.

The Myth of “Not Enough Time”

We’ve been told that meaningful change requires big chunks of time—hour-long routines, elaborate self-care rituals, perfectly quiet mornings. But the truth is, you don’t need more time. You need more intention.

Six minutes can be enough.

In those six minutes, you signal to your nervous system, “I matter. My presence matters.” That small act of showing up begins to shift everything else.

You start trusting yourself again.

You start listening to what you actually need.

You start the day from calm instead of chaos.

Consistency builds self-trust, not complexity.

 The Magic of Six Minutes

Here’s the simple rhythm I’ve come to love – and what I teach in my Awaken and Align Course on Insight Timer.

1 minute to arrive.

Breathe. Stretch. Feel your feet on the floor. Let your awareness catch up to your body.

2 minutes to connect.

Place a hand on your heart. Name one thing you’re grateful for. Set an intention for how you want to feel today.

2 minutes to activate.

Move, shake, journal, or speak an affirmation that brings energy into your body. Do what helps you wake up your aliveness.

1 minute to align.

Ask: What’s one thing that would make today feel meaningful? Let that answer guide how you move through the day.

That’s it—six minutes. Six minutes to come home to yourself before the world comes rushing in.

The Ripple Effect

When you start small, something shifts.

Your mornings feel calmer, yes—but so does everything that follows. You find yourself pausing before reacting. You notice your breath more often. You begin to feel like you’re on your own side again.

The most beautiful part is that the benefits aren’t just mental—they’re physical.
Your body starts to exhale. Your shoulders drop. Your nervous system learns that it’s safe to rest.

For me, these six-minute rituals did more than calm my mornings—they helped me dissolve chronic back pain, end patterns of over-giving, and make life choices that finally aligned with who I really am.

That’s the power of small mornings: they rebuild your relationship with yourself one breath at a time.

Final Thoughts

You don’t need to overhaul your life to feel better. You don’t need more time, or more perfection, or a brand-new identity.

You just need a few quiet moments each morning to meet yourself again.

Because when you start your day connected to who you are, everything that follows begins to align naturally.

Here’s to your six minutes—and the whole, radiant day they create.
